Follow along as, with God's help, I share my Catholic-to-Seventh Day Adventist conversion story!

All of my #preparationday tasks are complete, and All of my #preparationday tasks are complete, and I'm ready to rest tomorrow, on the #sabbath

When you are looking ahead to Sabbath all week, it helps you to keep your mind on God. You don't procrastinate, you spend time in scripture, and things come together.

And you get better at it the longer you practice rest and pray for His help!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and, #happysabbath !!!

On October 16, 1999, I married my husband and into On October 16, 1999, I married my husband and into a very devout Catholic family. There was never a question about whose church we would marry in. Of course, it would be the Catholic Church.

As I continued along my path to Sabbath, I couldn't help but worry about what his family would think.

His dad was always very open about his opinions on what we should or should not be doing. He could be very confrontational and even harsh at times.

I prayed about this continuously, but I knew I could not compromise my beliefs by caving to pressure.

After all, would it be worse to risk earthly relationships or the one with my Father in heaven?

My husband and I have four children together, two My husband and I have four children together, two of whom are young adults and two who are elementary age. I definitely did not want to cause any confusion for them by changing denominations unless I was absolutely sure that I was on the right path.

For this reason, I spent months pouring over the scriptures and researching the truth on my own.

Literally, no one in my family was aware that I was considering leaving my Catholic faith in this moment.

I was a few months down the path-to-sabbath before I quietly started observing the seventh day rest. Even in this, I was discrete, for the sake of my children.

On my quest for truth, I tried to choose sources o On my quest for truth, I tried to choose sources of information whos foundation was grounded in the Bible.

If it wasn't in the Bible, it's wasn't for me!

Naturally, I was unable to find many of the things I believed and practiced as a Catholic in the Bible. On the contrary, I discovered that most were man-made Tradition, and were supported solely by the 'Catechism of the Catholic Church.'

One by one, I researched the different aspects of my Catholic faith, and I became increasingly frustrated and angered by what I found.

As I began to realize the truth, I started to gravitate towards the fundamental beliefs of the Seventh Day Adventist church. There, in their beliefs, I found truth that could be verified in the Bible.

@strongtower_radio presented an invaluable wealth of information for me. There, I listened to hours of programming that confirmed that I was on the right track.

On that station, I also was introduced to the @amazingfactsministry through their program, 'Bible Answers Live.' And I did get answers!

I was still at the beginning of my journey, but was well on my way...

When I discovered that the Ten Commandments I grew When I discovered that the Ten Commandments I grew up knowing were different than what is actually in the Bible (Exodus 20), I started on a quest for the truth. I questioned everything.

I wanted the TRUTH.

It would definitely have been easier for me to accept what the Catholich church taught about the Sabbath (among other things). Less turmoil for my marriage, my family, and myself.

I searched Catholic resources, Adventist resources, and most importantly, the Bible. I wanted the truth, even if it wasn't convenient, even if it caused family problems, even if it required major changes on my part.

The truth does not always bring peace. It is written in Matthew 10:34-39

Today is 'Preparation Day!' We are preparing to e Today is 'Preparation Day!'

We are preparing to enter into Sabbath rest with our Lord, so we want to reduce the amount of worries and work we have for tomorrow to zero! Anything I don't get to today will wait until Sunday.

Today I'll
*Go pick up a few groceries
*Go to the bank
*Finish up any cleaning or house chores
*Make a large supper so we have leftovers for Sabbath
*Make sure we have some quick breakfast foods that require minimal preparation.
*Lay out all our church clothes to avoid a morning rush
*Check what time sunset is locally and try the best I can to get done with all this in time. Tonight its 8:14 pm EST here.

Don't look at it as 'I must legally not do any work tomorrow.' Look at it like this- 'I GET TO SPEND THE DAY WITH MY CREATOR TOMORROW AND NOT WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE!'

Just like when you have an important date or meeting, you want to be able to focus on the present, not worry about all of the things that you have to do after, or should be doing right now. You can give all of your focus to the person in front of you, in this case, God!

I wasn't always good at getting organized for Sabbath, and sometimes I just don't get it all done. This is where we can trust in God to take care of anything we didn't get to, and let Him give us the rest we need.

Happy Sabbath!

Most of my life I spent as a Catholic, but attende Most of my life I spent as a Catholic, but attended a Lutheran church for a few years in high school while I lived with my grandparents.

My mother converted to Seventh Day Adventism when she met and married my step-dad when I was 15. Though I had been exposed to the SDA church early on, and did ask some questions, I never pursued it with any seriousness.

When I met my husband, a Catholic, in high school, and we were engaged a few years later, because I wasn't super passionate about ANY religion, we went with his.

So, what changed for me after 43 years on this earth, most of which as a Roman Catholic?

It was a @candacecbure podcast that started my search for truth. I was on my morning walk, much like the day I took this photo, and I was listening to her podcast. She recommended the book, 'The Way of the Master,' by Ray Comfort, so I started listening to it on my walks.

In the book he recommends going through each of the Ten Commandments to examine how well you were living each one in your life. Easy enough- I turned in my Bible to Exodus 20:1 and read them all.

There was something wrong- we had just memorized all of the Ten Commandments for our daughter's First Communion that spring so they were fresh in my mind, except the fourth commandment in the Bible (Exodus 20:8) was different than the fourth commandment we learned in our CCD class.

And that was just the beginning!

Follow along as I add to my story in the coming weeks and months.

Hello! My name is Teri (on the left) and I'm pict Hello!

My name is Teri (on the left) and I'm pictured with my daughter Brianna at our first mother-daughter retreat at Camp Au Sable last fall. This was taken about four months into my Sabbath-keeping journey and is one of my sweetest memories!

As of today, we are just over a year into our Catholic-to-Adventist conversion experience, and I feel moved to share it, with the Lord's help, with anyone who it may help.

I'll go into more detail on each aspect of this journey as I add posts to the pages; just know that I realize my journey is far from over, and that I also realize I don't have (and will never have) all the answers.

When I began this journey, I scoured the internet for someone to follow who had been through what I was going through; Catholic, married with kids, feeling led to explore a new, Sabbath-keeping faith.

Catholicism to Adventism is a giant leap, not your ordinary conversion, if I do say so myself. It was bumpy for our whole family the first several months, and while we still have challenges, I feel we've made enough progress that God can use me to bless others with our experience.

As I write this, our family is split firmly down the middle, I and the two youngest kids are Adventist, my husband and two oldest are Roman Catholic, but we make it all work!

Please know that anything that may bless you on this page is definitely the Lord working through me. I pray the Lord uses me to bless you on your path as I have been blessed by so many along the way.
